About the event
Join us for an interactive workshop helping women identify and talk to their strengths. This month’s topic has been specially chosen to celebrate International Women’s Day and empower women on their journey to success.
We like to think here in New Zealand we’re pretty gender equal and we are, compared to many countries around the world, but last year showed there was still a gender pay gap of 8.6% and we’d like to see a smaller number, or even a big fat zero! So how can we narrow the gap and see more women finding great jobs and progressing up the career ladder?
Many of us are simply not comfortable about talking about our strengths and our achievements. Stereotypically women are expected to be friendly and efficient while men get to be confident and competitive, and our hard work often goes unnoticed.  We’ve therefore asked highly experienced learning and development consultant, and facilitator on the Aspire Women’s Leadership Development Programme, Trish Lui, to come and help us get better at blowing our own trumpets.
Trish is an advocate of strengths philosophy – this is based on the idea that when we are playing to our strengths, we feel energised, confident and capable, and it therefore makes sense for people to find jobs which mainly involve their strengths. We still need to be aware of our weakness and learn how to navigate them but focusing on what we’re good at and getting even better at it, is both more enjoyable and more productive. You can read more about Trish here.
Join us to discover your strengths and talk about what you’re good at in a safe and comfortable space. The workshop is suitable for everyone, whether you’re looking for your first job, halfway up the career ladder, or at home looking after the family.
Please bring a notebook and pen so you can capture any insights for future use.
As usual, we will be starting at 12pm and finishing the workshop section at 1pm when we’ll enjoy networking and a light lunch kindly provided by KPMG.
