Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the privilege of delivering our How-To Series at Porirua Library – a six‑part workshop programme designed to help participants take confident next steps in their job search.
Across two weeks, we explored everything from goal setting, CVs and cover letters, and interview skills to dressing for success. Participants not only learned in group settings but also benefited from targeted one‑on‑one support, ensuring advice and guidance could be tailored to their personal needs. We wrapped up with a special session from Equip Recruitment, who generously shared market and industry insights to help participants better understand the current employment landscape and where opportunities lie.
We’re grateful to the Porirua Library team for providing such a welcoming, well‑equipped space for our workshops, and to all the facilitators (Darryn, Gina and Kelly-Maree) who brought their expertise, encouragement, and energy to each session. Their ability to create a warm, supportive learning environment made a huge difference to the success of the series.
Participant feedback was fantastic:
“Generous sharing of relevant personal experiences brought the sessions to life.”
“The workshops were warm, focused, and inspiring.”
“I’d recommend this series to anyone wanting to join the NZ workforce.”
“The structure of six sessions over two weeks kept momentum and made learning fun, relevant, and practical.”

Ngā mihi to everyone involved for making this series such a success — and to our participants for showing up, engaging, and putting new skills into action.
