Our Career Coaching programme is expanding and we are now seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to support our clients on their journey to meaningful employment
Location: Wellington region (with options for in-person or online sessions)
Commitment: Flexible - ideally one or two client session per week + optional involvement in workshops.
Duration: Flexible – based on availability and client needs.
About the Role
As a volunteer Career Coach, you’ll work one-on-one with clients over a series of tailored sessions to help them build confidence, clarify goals, and take practical steps toward finding work or further education.
You’ll play a crucial part in empowering job seekers—many of whom are rebuilding confidence after challenges such as long-term unemployment, migration, or major life transitions.
What You’ll Do
Provide between 3 to 6 one-on-one coaching sessions per client (online or in-person)
Help clients set goals, explore career options, and identify suitable pathways
Support clients in improving their CVs, cover letters, and interview preparation
Encourage personal growth and help build motivation and accountability
Share insights at group workshops or assist clients to attend them as part of their development
Offer insights and advice based on your professional experience
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome volunteers from a range of professional backgrounds, especially those with experience in:
Human Resources or Recruitment
Career Development or Employment Services
Professional Coaching or Mentoring
Business Management or People Leadership
You don’t need to be a certified coach—just someone who is a great listener, empathetic, and keen to share your knowledge to uplift others.
